Working on your computer with your iPad can make your work easier or more productive. According to Thorin Klosowski at Lifehacker, using an iPad as an external controller for your computer is one of the best ways to use it.
1. Make it a monitor. Depending on the work you do, you might find a second monitor useful on your computer. The iPad makes a great second monitor, especially if you are short on desk space and don’t need a large, high-definition monitor. Using specialized applications, you can easily turn your iPad into a second monitor. Lifehacker recommends Air Display or Splashtop XDisplay.
2. Customize shortcuts. If you rely on keyboard commands, you can use your iPad to control the computer with customized shortcuts. Depending on what app you use, you can set up action buttons to create shortcuts in the apps you use. Actions for iPad, for example, is described as a “super powerful extension to your keyboard,” Klosowski writes.
3. Control your computer from afar. Using an iPad to control your computer remotely makes it possible to access files on your home computer no matter where you are. Even if you store a lot of your information in the cloud, it’s handy to be able to control your computer from a remote location. Different apps offer different features, so check them out if this is something you might find useful.
