Accord­­ing to a new report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the IRS has to shore up its internal controls. (GAO-13-420R, 5/13/13) After examining the records for FY12, it concluded that the IRS isn’t effectively implementing accounting procedures for federal tax receivables and other unpaid tax assessments.
