Margaret Thatcher on leadership

When former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died earlier this year, the media burned up with opinions on the conservative icon.

Two things not in doubt are that she was a bold leader and one of the 20th century’s heroes.

Some thoughts on leadership in her own words:

  1. “Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.”
  2. “I’ve got a woman’s ability to stick to a job and get on with it when everyone else walks off and leaves it.”
  3. “People think that at the top there isn’t much room. They tend to think of it as an Everest. My message is that there is tons of room at the top.”
  4. “I don’t know anyone who has gotten to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but it will get you pretty near.”
