In 2008, Congress expanded theto include two types of : exigency leave and military caregiver leave. In 2010, Congress expanded those leave rights by applying them to the regular armed forces as well as National Guard members and reservists.
Now those changes have been officially implemented with new regulations from the U.S. Department of Labor. They took effect March 8.

The new regulations change the term “covered military member” to “military member.” The 2008 term “covered military member” included National Guard and reservists, but not the regular armed forces. The new “military member” definition now includes all three groups.
