Keep a remote team on the same page

If your team isn’t sitting in the same office or even the same state, you may need some new management prac­­tices to keep things running smoothly. Try these tips from Travefy co-founder David Donner Chait:

  1. Facilitate open communication. Hold regular team meetings, and keep communication open so work doesn’t slow down when questions arise.
  2. Manage milestones, not processes. Worry less about how and when work gets done, only that it’s getting done. Focus on achieving goals.
  3. Use technology to your advantage. Use video chat for better communication during meetings, and try other programs and applications that aid collaborative efforts.
  4. Don’t forget team development. Even remote teams need to bond, so make sure you make time to discuss nonwork topics and get together in person from time to time, if you can.
