Made to be awesome. Check out the inspirational video by YouTube sensation Robbie Novak, better known as Kid President, a 9-year-old from Tennessee whose declared goal for 2013 is to “make the world awesome.” So far, Kid President has appeared on CNN and produced a video with the real president.

First rule of the road. Two business travelers were overheard discussing barbeque joints in Birmingham, Ala. One expressed admiration for a particular place, while the other emphatically said she didn’t like it. To which a third colleague, a stylish twenty-something from New Orleans, spoke up to say “Never yuk someone’s yum.”

Move on. Literary agent Sterling Lord follows a rule about winning and losing: Whether savoring triumph or recovering from disaster, he tries to take only 10 minutes to whoop or moan before moving on to the next thing.
