Career mistake #4

by on
in Career Management,Workplace Communication

Executive search firm CEO Skip Freeman calls it “Fatal Career Mistake #4”—not branding yourself as a person who can save or make money for a company.

These days, you won’t be hired merely because you have the know-how, he says. You’ve got to be a problem-solver.

“If you aren’t in the mindset of recognizing that everything you do must make a company money or save a company money, start today,” he tells Business Insider.

Tip: Start now by translating what you do into dollars, numbers or percentages. Review the numbers during performance reviews or weekly status reports. Eventually, you’ll have a stockpile to refer to.
