Travel season is upon us. Make easy work of choosing the right hotel and what’s nearby with these online tools.
√ Google.com/Hotelfinder: The focus here is on price. Tap in your location and check-in date, and Google spits out a list of hotels, user ratings and rates. It also tells you how the hotel’s current rate compares with its rate over the past year.
√ Hipmunk.com: Color-coded dots show price ranges for the hotels available. Hotels are also ranked according to an “ecstasy” index, based on favorable reviews, amenities offered and price. Click on a “heatmap” to see how close accommodations are to food, shopping and nightlife.
It's worth mentioning that Hipmunk also offers a flight-search function, sorting results by how much "agony" you'll experience with each flight (price, number of stops, etc.).
√ Room77.com: See the layout of each floor in a hotel (as long as it’s in one of 29 cities) to determine what room to choose or avoid. You can even see a virtual view from your chosen room’s window. Search by preferences such as “connecting rooms” or “low floor.”
