Q. One of our employees was hurt while driving a company car on her morning commute to work. Would this be considered a workers’ compensation claim?

A. It depends on a number of factors. Did the employee use the car only for work-related purposes or also for personal reasons? Was she driving to her regular workplace or to a customer’s site?

If the employee drove the car for personal use and was commuting to her regular workplace, then her injury is probably not covered by workers’ compensation because it was not incurred in the course of employment.
