A federal court brushed aside last-minute legal appeals from business groups, allowing implementation of the new E-Verify mandate for federal contractors, effective on Sept. 8. The new rule requires employers with federal contracts worth more than $100,000 to use the electronic E-Verify systems to check the work eligibility status of newly hired employees, as well as current employees who work directly on a contract.
