The Brookville City Council has approved a new dress code for municipal employees, requiring them to observe “strict personal hygiene,” including the use of deodorant. The council deemed unacceptable “exposed undergarments,” “sexually provocative” garments, halter tops and clothing with designs showing foul language or promoting drug use.

An “observable lack of undergarments” is explicitly forbidden.

Brookville Mayor Joe Bernadini cast the lone “nay” vote. He had no problem censoring language on clothing or banning piercings and sexually provocative clothing. He was OK with the personal hygiene rule. He said the underwear clause “takes away freedom of choice.”
