CDC: 20% in U.S. have some disability

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in five Americans has a disability.

The agency said it expects that number to grow as the U.S. population’s average age rises. According to the CDC, 85 million Americans are disabled. The leading disability is arthritis, followed by back problems and heart conditions.

Employers should expect more accommodation requests as aging employees stay in the workforce during this economic downturn.
