Miramar-based low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has run into opposition from flight attendants over a change to their uniforms. The aprons the flight attendants wear while serving customers include logos promoting alcoholic beverage brands.

In a press release, the president of the union representing the attendants said, “[t]he proposed aprons diminish the primary and federally mandated role of flight attendants as safety professionals and our role as first responders onboard.”

The airline issued its own press release defending the uniform addition as tasteful and a good marketing tool for driving additional revenue in a difficult business environment.
