The EEOC has settled a lawsuit it filed against Texas-based Cadit Co., which was doing work for the San Francisco Municipal Railway. The agency said Cadit allowed a foreman to harass a Chinese-American welder, Ru Jian Lin.

Lin claimed the foreman subjected him to a daily barrage of racial slurs. He said the company fired him when he complained.

Cadit, which did not have to admit liability, agreed to pay $37,000 and will take steps to prevent future harassment.
