If your manager acts in a way that is offensive or upsetting to you, don’t adopt an accusatory or self-righteous tone. That kind of impulsive reaction can leave lasting scars. Instead, in a polite, inquisitive tone, ask, “I’m confused by this; it doesn’t make sense to me. Would you mind explaining your thinking?”
