Most employees hate meetings. Don’t make matters worse by wasting their time. Stick to the agenda and redirect speakers who introduce tangents. Summarize a speaker’s point by writing a word or phrase on a flip chart rather than trying to paraphrase orally. Reason: Even if you precisely restate what you heard, many speakers will simply rattle on after you’ve accurately summarized what they just said. Finally, avoid time-killers such as making the group wait for someone to arrive or telling long stories.
