Some staffers will try to persuade you by saying “I’ve been through this before” or “Trust me, I know how this works.” Don’t discount their experience, but demand evidence. If they insist they’ve “seen this happen before,” ask how many actual cases they can think of. After they give you a specific number, ask for examples. Force them to present hard evidence to back it up.
