A co-worker makes yet another condescending comment about you:

“That’s not going to help us work together. We need to bear down and accomplish this. We don’t need to be friends, but we do need to show each other respect.”

An employee complains, “I can’t work in an environment like this!”

“I understand this isn’t an ideal work environment for you. I’d like to help you be more productive. Can you suggest steps that either of us can take to increase your productivity?”

Your boss keeps asking for your advice, even though you’ve given it repeatedly to no avail:

“I know I’ve told you this before, and I want to bring it up again. But before I do, I wonder if there’s any advice you can give me on how you’d like feedback from me.”
