Today, it’s a more level playing field thanks to the Web. Many sites help you determine whether your pay fairly reflects what other employers offer:
CareerHunters.com. Click on “salaries” under “preparation” in the “career guide and resource directory” section. This will help you scout the latest survey data nationwide.
Wageweb.com. Providing a basis of comparison between your pay and the mean pay of more than 150 jobs, Wageweb.com even includes average bonuses and how many respondents sent in pay figures for each job type. This helps you assess the validity of the data.
America’s Career InfoNet. Go to www.acinet.org and click on “wages and trends” to search under your job category. This will pull up the average pay both nationwide and within the state you selected.
