Where does the day go? We spend at least 36 minutes at work every day on personal tasks, according to a survey by OfficeTeam. That’s three hours per week.

Here’s how long each group estimated it spends daily on personal tasks during office hours:

  • Women: 29 minutes
  • Men: 44 minutes
  • 18- to 34-year-olds: 45 minutes
  • 35- to 64-year-olds: 32 minutes
  • 65 years or older: 17 minutes

As a result, says Diane Domeyer, executive director of OfficeTeam, “The best employers take steps to accommodate the need by staff for work/life balance. In fact, some businesses have responded by providing staff with on-site day care or concierge-type services.”
