When you stride up to a microphone, do you walk confidently or shuffle up with your head down?

Here’s a technique that actors use to command attention:
  1. Draw a line on the floor, and stand behind it while saying to yourself: “Now, I’m offstage, where nobody can see me.”

  2. Step across the line and say to yourself: “Now, I’m making my entrance, and I’m in full view.”
If you repeat this exercise, you’ll learn to handle the moment when you become the center of attention.
