Leaders stick by their friends through thick and thin, right? After all, loyalty is a good thing.

Or is it? It might be a good idea to ask this question: “Do I sometimes set aside good business thinking so I can maintain a friendship?”

It’s a sad fact that friends can erode your credibility by asking for inappropriate favors, wasting your time … or worse. Make it a point to demand the same kind of ethical, respectful behavior from your friends that you demand from yourself.
