If you’ve ever wondered whether you cave in to higher-ups too easily — often conscripting your people to do too much work in the process — look for these warning signs:
  • Your people try to reason with you using facts.

  • They strive to make you understand that you can’t deliver on your promises and you’ll dynamite your credibility.

  • They choose the best of bad options and perform their work slowly and incompetently. Even here, you can detect their reluctance and change course.

  • They become “Yes” people, accepting their fate of fulfilling your false promises.
