State employees recently got free advice on how to manage their personal finances from none other than Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink. She sponsored a series of “Lunch and Learn” seminars to help staffers cope with the tightening economy.
“All Floridians are feeling the economic pinch and none more so than our state employees, who will receive no cost-of-living increases in their salaries this year,” said Sink, who heads the state Department of Financial Services. “We all could benefit from tips on how to cut costs, stay within a budget and continue to provide for our families.”
The series proved popular with employees, who ate lunch in the capitol while enjoying presentations such as “Become the CFO of Your Family—Slice Your Grocery Bill in Half.”
