You already know that when a bigwig asks a question you can’t answer, the best reply is, “I don’t know. I’ll find out.” Don’t stop there. If one higher-up asks a question, odds are others will, too. Once you find the answer, prepare a “cheat sheet” that lists all questions by senior execs and the information you gather. The next time you’re asked the same question, you’ll have a ready response.
