Help your staff work smarter by breaking your instructions into three stages. First, pinpoint the challenge you face. Then explain a lesson that you’ve learned to combat this challenge. Close by applying that lesson to the current action plan. Example: “We must cut costs to stay competitive. We’ve learned that the bestway to tighten our belt is with incremental cuts rather than chopping too much, too soon. So, we must isolate gradual but meaningful steps to control expenses.”
