“I have a grammar question that I hope you can answer,” writes reader Marie L. Intrieri of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department in Harrisburg, Pa.

“Could you please tell me which is correct: Your welcome or You’re welcome.”

It’s a common mistake. “You’re welcome” is correct. A handy way to remember: In your mind, expand the contraction “you’re” to “you are,” so that it becomes “You are welcome.”
