Making a strong start as a new CEO means getting to know your managers and staff and helping them excel. “Surviving Your New CEO,” a study conducted by Harvard Business School Professor Kevin Coyne, offers this advice:
  • Tell people how you want them to disagree with you, and how you will disagree with them.

  • Encourage people to explain what they do, and why. Many employees will wait for you to discover what they do. By the time that happens, you’ve written them off as nonproducers.
