Criticism doesn’t scare Gil Penchina, chief executive officer of Wikia, a company that develops wikis, or collaborative web sites. By making mistakes and hearing about them, companies can ultimately attain success.

Penchina often hears gripes about the unattractiveness of Wikia’s web page. He welcomes the barbs. “The last thing I want is silence. Silence is apathy and means no one cares. Anger means they’re involved,” he says.

“I love negative feedback because it means people are excited; it tells me they’re going to tell me what to build so I don’t have to figure it out for myself.”

He always keeps in mind a quote from Winston Churchill: “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”
