The IRS has launched a public-education program meant to address the growing federal tax gap—the difference between the amount taxpayers voluntarily pay and the amount actually owed—which the agency says amounts to about $345 billion a year. To shrink the gap, the IRS has begun releasing a series of fact sheets designed to educate the worst offenders. (We trust that you’re not one of them!)
