Last year, the IRS announced a new rule that would require people to gain their spouse’s written approval before establishing a charitable remainder trust. But the new rules drew a lot of flak from the tax community, so the IRS has postponed them indefinitely while it reconsiders the issue. (IRS Notice 2006-15)
