The U.S. Department of Justice and the EEOC have filed a complaint to enforce a mediation settlement agreement the EEOC entered into with the Housing Authority of the city of El Paso.

The two federal agencies filed the suit in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas on behalf of Miriam McNabb, who claimed the housing authority discriminated against her when it failed to promote her.

The settlement agreement called for the housing authority to pay McNabb $2,000 and to make certain changes to its promotional interview panels. In exchange, McNabb’s claim would have been dismissed.

After signing the agreement, however, the housing authority informed the EEOC that it would not honor its terms.
