Reminders about posting reminders

The most effective spot to place a reminder may not lie within the system you commonly use. If the boss will be away from the computer, for example, a reminder on Outlook will go unread.
Check the system you're using to set reminders against the pros and cons of these tools:
Bulletin boards. Post items you want to refer to later here, but don't place urgent reminders where they're likely to blend into the background.
Dry-erase boards. Instead of filling up pads of paper, jot short, temporary reminders here.
Sticky notes. Temporarily attach a reminder to a file or document with these, but don't fill your workstation with them. In addition to cluttering your office, they can fall off or stick to the wrong item.
Journals. For a permanent record, a journal notebook or electronic file offers the best way to log phone calls and other actions.
