Q: You've mentioned U.S. Savings Bonds in recent articles. Is there one place where I can find out the changing interest rates and maturity dates for bonds that I own (without going to a bank)? R.J., Birmingham, Ala.
A: Yes. Several Web sites provide that type of information. The best is www.treasurydirect.gov, which is run by the U.S. government. If you click on "Savings Bonds" in the toolbar on the left side, you'll jump to a menu of items about Savings Bonds. Click on "Savings Bond Calculator" to determine the interest rates of bonds you own.
