The IRS plans to give you even more time to complete your 2005 individual Form 1040 next year. Its new draft of Form 4868 (Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return) would give taxpayers a six-month automatic filing extension to Oct. 15. Currently, Form 4868 grants a four-month extension, then taxpayers must request another two-month extension using Form 2688. The automatic six-month extension would mean the end of Form 2688.
