Why? The Securities and Exchange Commission just created an online tool that lets the public easily see how much top execs are paid at the 500 largest public U.S. companies. The “Executive Compensation Reader” at www.sec.gov/xbrl is a result of the SEC’s mandate to shine more light on exec compensation.

For HR, the tool can provide benchmarking insight on pay and perks among the top dogs.
