A survey of Southeast Michigan business owners by the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce indicates serious reservations among area employers about state-run health care.

The survey, administered by John Bailey & Associates, sought reactions to a proposed amendment to Michigan’s constitution that would require the Legislature to pass a law providing universal health care coverage.

Almost half of respondents—46%—said they would vote no on the amendment, while 27% said they would vote yes, and 27% were undecided.

Respondents nonetheless cited the high cost of health insurance and the impact of the uninsured as their top health care concerns.
