On Jan. 29, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in a statement that he is determined to change California’s health care system despite the defeat of A.B.X. 11, the omnibus health care reform legislation that recently stalled in Sacramento.

Stating that the issue is too important to walk away from, Schwarzenegger continued, “[D]espite the Senate’s rejection of our comprehensive health care reform bill, I want the people of California to know I will not give up trying to fix our broken health care system.”

The statement came one day after California’s Senate Health Committee rejected omnibus health care reform legislation that was approved by the state Assembly in December 2007. According to Schwarzenegger, the defeat is just one setback and he still believes “comprehensive health care reform is needed in California.”
