Brad Richard Harper, former treasurer of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1629 in Battle Creek, will serve 14 months in prison and pay more than $75,000 in restitution for making false statements in union financial reports.

Harper admitted that between December 1999 and March 2005, he made unauthorized cash withdrawals from the union’s accounts and charged numerous personal items to union credit cards.

Note: Widespread use of corporate charge cards has led to numerous cases of abuse. Protect your company with careful oversight of all employee accounts.
