Q. Handling wage assignments seems like a lot of trouble. What if we skip the whole thing? Can we get in trouble?

A.
While the Wage Assignment Act does not specifically state what would happen if an employer does not cooperate, a creditor may seek to legally enforce a wage assignment against an employer that fails to withhold. The creditor would file a separate suit in court.
