The Miami Herald, published by California-based McClatchy Co., has outsourced some production work in its special advertising sections to India.
Beginning in January, McClatchy transferred copyediting and design for the newspaper’s Broward County community news and other inserts to Mindworks, based in New Delhi, India. Mindworks will also monitor reader comments posted to online stories, said Executive Editor Anders Gyllenhaal.
Gyllenhaal noted the outsourcing project is still in the testing phase. The goal is to save labor costs.
McClatchy also outsourced some of its advertising production for its sister publication, The Sacramento Bee, to Mindworks in December.
