Shortly after South Bend Plastics of Mishawaka sold its injection molding facility in Alabama to a Muscle Shoals, AL, man, the general manager was fired and paychecks began to bounce.
In fact, every paycheck issued after the sale bounced. At Thanksgiving, the new owner did away altogether with the formality of issuing checks. When workers showed up as directed to receive their final pay, the doors to the facility were locked.
Approximately 30 employees, who earned between $7 and $9 per hour, lost a month’s pay. The facility goes up for auction this month.
