A noose made of toilet paper was found in a restroom stall in a maintenance building at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. An employee discovered the 10-inch noose hanging from a stall door in the Sullivan Shops building, which is used primarily by staff. University police are investigating.
“This could be someone’s idea of a prank, or it might constitute a crime,” Chancellor James Oblinger said. “Even if it is intended as a prank, it is disruptive and an offense to a safe learning and working environment.”
Tip: You can’t control everything your employees do, but you can head off charges of a hostile environment by responding decisively to offensive “pranks” or comments in your workplace.
