In a disturbing case of copycat thinking, a Suffolk County Community College employee told his supervisor during an argument, “If I get one more write-up, if you think they had a problem in Virginia, it’ll be worse here.”
The supervisor called the police. Police charged the man with harassment and criminal possession of a weapon after he admitted owning a bolt-action shotgun.
Tip: The lesson of the Virginia Tech massacre is that it pays to take threats seriously. Encourage employees to come forward with any concerns about fellow employees.
