If you typically hire foreign employees through the federal government’s H-1B visa program, be aware of an upcoming date: April 1. On that day, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service will begin accepting advance filings from employers of petitions seeking H-1B visas for the 2008 fiscal year, which begins on Oct. 1.

The government set a cap of 65,000 H-1B visas for FY08, and those are likely to be scooped up within weeks after the April 1 filing date. For more details, visit www.uscis.gov.
