Two married police officers in Philadelphia’s K-9 Unit have sued the police department for allowing a female chief inspector to harass and stalk them for more than a year.

Their lawsuit contends that the inspector, who was fired last June following a 15-month internal affairs investigation, had a well-known history of dating fellow employees and harassing them after their relationships ended. In this case, the husband was involved with the inspector before meeting his wife.

The department did provide some protection to the couple during its investigation, but they contend that it should have reassigned the inspector and confiscated her weapon, as is the department’s practice with male officers accused of similar conduct.
