Employees are 14 percent more likely to gain weight after they start working at a sedentary job than those who work on their feet, according to CareerBuilder's annual Work and Health survey.

And one in five workers—in all kinds of jobs—report they've gained at least 10 pounds since they started their current jobs.

Encourage sedentary staffers to take walks during coffee and lunch breaks. Walking for just 10 minutes can burn up to 50 calories, even at a comfortable pace of three miles per hour.
