New overtime rules facing delays

Don't expect the Labor Department's proposal to revamp the Fair Labor Standards Act's overtime provisions to take effect anytime soon. Labor received thousands of comments on the rules, proposed in March, and has to sort through those before issuing final rules. Also, the U.S. Senate is set to vote in September on a Democrat-backed amendment that would block the reforms for at least a year. New outlook: Mid- to late 2004.
