The sluggish economy of recent years has helped encourage more employees to show up at work, even while they're sick. Nearly 77 percent of employees say they've shown up to work when ill, says a recent ComPsych Corp. poll. Top reasons: Their workload makes it too difficult to take time off and they feared losing their jobs. The study said sick employees coming to work actually causes more sickness among employees, which decreases productivity in the long term.
