When you're working with a virtual team scattered across locations, foster unity with these steps:
1. Make messages "location-neutral." Time delivery to arrive at every site during the normal workday, so no one is left out of the loop.
2. Share success. Check off accomplishments on an action registry during web conferences so everyone sees the progress.
3. Don't waste meeting time. During rare face-to-face gatherings, provide a central emergency contact number others can dial to reach participants so everyone can turn off their phones.
Compile status reports into one e-mail you distribute before conference calls, so participants are primed for action.
